S AFRICA: KWV brings Imoya home

By | 13 May 2005

KWV has launched the Imoya VSOP Cape Alambic brandy into the Southern African market through its House of Brandy range. The move follows the brandy's success in the US.

Expected to retail at about ZAR220 (US$35.19) for 750ml, the brandy was due to be sold mainly into the US and Far East in 1999, but the meltdown of the Asian economy at the time meant that marketing efforts centred on the US, where it found appeal particularly among ethnic groups.

The double-distilled brandy is a blend of brandies aged in small oak barrels for up to 20 years.

Sectors: Spirits, Wine
