Kirin is going global with its frozen beer brand

Kirin has confirmed details of the US roll-out of its Ichiban Frozen Beer brand. 

The beer, which is topped with frozen foam designed to keep it chilled for 30 minutes, is initially on sale in Los Angeles, at the city's Dodger Stadium and select restaurants and bars, the company announced yesterday (30 July). It first launched in Japan last year. 

This summer further launches are slated for other “select” US markets, including locations in Honolulu, New York and the Japan Pavilion at Epcot in Orlando, Kirin said.

Other roll-outs are expected round the world, the company said earlier this year

"After test-launches in Honolulu and Orlando and overwhelmingly positive feedback, Kirin Ichiban Frozen Beer is ready for a larger presence in the US,” said Randy Higa, president of Kirin Brewery of America.

UPDATE: The frozen beer is also being rolled out in the UK, starting at Yo!Sushi restuarants. Brewer Wells & Young's, which produces Kirin's products in the UK under licence, said on 1 August the product will also be expanded further beyond the sushi restaurants.
