JAPAN: Kirin unit to set up drink JV in Vietnam - report

Kirin Beverage Corp, a unit of Kirin Holdings Co, has plans to set up a drinks joint venture with noodle company Acecook in Vietnam, according to reports.

Dow Jones International News said today (28 November) that Kirin will hold a 51% stake in the new company, named Vina Kirin Acecook Beverage Co, which is due to be established next May.

The $26m joint venture will initially outsource production, but aims to set up its own plant and begin production from the beginning of 2009, the news service said. 

The company will reportedly employ approximately 100 staff.
