San Miguel and Kirin Brewery are looking at joint venture possibilities in Asia, according to press reports. BusinessWorld reports today that the two are looking to expand their partnership in China into areas other than beer production and distribution.

In its latest report to investors, Kirin said that its collaboration with San Miguel, in which it holds a 15% stake, would extend to food, beverages, packaging and possibly joint procurement of ingredients and raw materials. No clear time frame was procured for the expansion plans.

The report highlights that focusing on growth categories in its domestic alcohol business and expanding to various Asian markets were included in Kirin's medium-term plans.
