USA: Keurig Premium Coffee Systems Announces First National Brand Partnership
The same great tasting Millstone premium Arabica coffee that consumers brew at home will soon be available one cup at a time through the Keurig system everywhere coffee is served. The Keurig single-cup brewing system is available in a number of away from home venues, including offices, convenience stores, restaurants, foodservice locations and grocery stores.
"We are always looking for opportunities to meet our consumer's needs with the great taste of Millstone coffee where they live, work and play. This partnership let's us do that one cup at a time," said Charlie Pierce, vice president of P&G's commercial products business. "With Keurig's breakthrough single-cup brewing technology, we have a unique combination of two leaders in their field to deliver a fresh, consistent gourmet cup of coffee away-from-home, every time."
Millstone is consistently rated as one of America's finest gourmet coffees by independent studies. Millstone Colombian Supremo is preferred nearly two-to-one in America over the leading national specialty chain's Colombian Blend coffee.
"Millstone's exceptional taste and quality will allow our North American network of select distributors to deliver coffee house taste to customers in offices and foodservice locations in a personalized manner, " said Nick Lazaris, Keurig's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are very proud to deliver the combination of a national brand like Millstone and our unique, Keurig Brewed(TM) technology to coffee lovers nationwide."
Single-cup brewers represent a growing and profitable trend as noted by industry experts in Automatic Merchandiser, February 2000 issue. Benefits of single-cup brewers include freshly brewed cups every time; push-button convenience; an always-clean coffee station and premium coffee offerings - like Millstone, available in a variety of blends and flavors. Ground coffee stays fresh in Keurig's patented K-Cup because it is purged of oxygen and permanently sealed to keep the coffee protected from air, moisture and light that cause coffee to get stale.
Millstone will be available in K-Cups(TM) in the Fall 2000. Introduced in 1998, K-Cups are used exclusively with Keurig's single-cup counter-top system. Currently, more than 9,500 brewers in North America deliver Keurig Brewed taste, convenience, speed and variety to coffee lovers away-from-home.
Keurig's single-cup coffee brewing system is creating a revolution in how coffee is viewed and brewed in offices and food service locations across North America. The patented "Coffee House Taste by the Cup(TM)" brewing system insures that fresh gourmet coffee is brewed consistently every time in 30 seconds with no messy grounds to clean up. Keurig licenses specialty coffee roasters to package their branded gourmet coffees in Keurig's patented K-Cups(TM) so that a wide variety of coffees are available to satisfy virtually every coffee drinker's taste preference.
