Coming up at this year's London International Wine & Spirits Fair…
New World wine importer and wholesaler Discovery Wines (stand H16) has lined up a number of new offerings for the LIWSF.
Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to taste 2006 new vintage releases from the company's portfolio, including a 2006 Cabernet Merlot Rosé from Vistamar in Chile - RRP - GBP3.99, and Omaka Springs Estates' 2006 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - RRP - GBP8.99.
Bordeaux rosé wine producer Chateau de Sours (stand J70) will be launching its Reserve de Sours Sparkling rosé at LIWSF. The sparkling rosé is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon made in traditional methode champenoise style and priced at under GBP10 in the UK
Also for the first time, Chateau de Sours Rosé will be launched in a range of formats, from standard bottle to Imperial. Each will be available for perusal at the stand.
The northern Italian region of Trentino (stand F30) will be showcased at this year's show. Both wine makers and grappa producers from the area will be represented at the stand, with many of them looking for UK agents or direct deals.
Among the wineries and distilleries in attendance will be Vivallis S.c.a., F.lli Pisoni distillery Az. Agr. Pisoni, Giori Distillati Trentini, Gaierhof, Cantine Monfort, and Bertagnolli.
Among the seminars and workshops going on throughout the fair, the Wine Faults Workshops will return this year. On the Wednesday (23 May), independent scientist and winemaker Pascal Chatonnet will host two one-and-a-half hour seminars, focussing on reductive characters and excessive levels of sulphur compounds.
The seminars, sponsored by natural cork producer Amorim, begin at 1100 and 1400 and will be held in Waterfront Room 27 and 28. Admission is free, but by ticket only, obtainable in advance from email@example.com.
