US: Jessica Simpson to promote Stampede vitamin beer
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 21 August 2008
Celebrity Jessica Simpson is to be the 'face' of beer brand Stampede Light Plus, marketed as the beer for health-conscious consumers, in the US.
Singer Simpson had been recruited because of her "passion for working out and making healthy food choices", as well as her "obvious physical fitness", brand owner Stampede Brewing Company said yesterday (20 August).
The Texas-based brewer, which distributes through the Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors network of wholesalers, claims its Stampede Light Plus beer has been enhanced with vitamins and nutrients.
The firm was started by former A-B marketing employee, Lawrence Schwartz, with the beer formulated by the late Dr. Joseph Owades, claimed to be the creator of the first light beer in 1967.
Light beers have helped big brewers in the US to maintain sales in a sluggish market in the last couple of years.
Sectors: Beer & cider
Companies: Anheuser-Busch
