Innis & Gunn has been boosted by rocketing sales in the US |
Brewer Innis & Gunn has reported a 62% year-on-year rise in turnover for 2011, boosted by significant sales growth in the US.
The Edinburgh-based firm said yesterday (1 October) that the value from exports of its oak-aged beers stood at GBP5.7m (US$9.2m) in the 12 months to December, or 77% of turnover. Overall turnover was GBP7.5m.
Exports volumes to the US rocketed by 178% to 827,000 12-bottle cases, in the full-year, the company said. But Canada remains the company's biggest export market.
“We have built the right infrastructure around us to deal with the challenges inherent with importing to and trading in the US," said Dougal Sharp, Innis & Gunn's CEO.
"Over the last year, we have strengthened our sales force and established good relationships with our first-tier distributors to make sure Innis & Gunn is a key player in their brands’ portfolio.”
In the UK, Innis & Gunn reported a 33% growth in volumes and 38% value growth in 2011.
The company has expanded its worforce to 32, after announcing last December plans to increase the workforce to meet demand for its beers.
