Ian Macleod Distillers has lined up the launch of two 40-year-old single malt Scotch whiskies.

The family-owned company confirmed earlier this week that the Glengoyne 40 Years Old and Springbank 40 Years Old will both be released this summer.

The Glengoyne 40 Years Old will be available from August and will be limited to 250 crystal decanters. The variant will be on sale at specialist whisky outlets in the UK and worldwide, at a domestic RRP of GBP3,750 (US$5,960) per decanter.

Springbank 40 Years Old, meanwhile, will launch in July, with 398 bottles being made available. Springbank 40 will carry a RRP domestically of GBP1,000 per bottle.

The Glengoyne 40 Years Old Highland single malt joins a range, which includes the Single Malt 10 Years Old, 12 Years Old Cask Strength, 17 Years Old and 21 Years Old, as well as a number of limited edition single casks released each year.

Earlier this year, Ian Macleod launched a super premium 18-year-old Smokehead Extra Black on the UK market.
