Shares in US soft drinks giant, Coca-Cola, reached a 52-week high following the company's announcement that Steven Heyer had been put in charge of the group's Latin American operations.

Heyer is one of the rising stars in Coca-Cola's executive firmament and is tipped by some to be a potential future CEO.

Coca-Cola's share price closed at $57.62, up $2.11, having peaked during the day at $57.91, the highest level in a year.
