US: Herradura named official Tequila of Kentucky Derby

By | 23 April 2008

Brown Forman's Tequila Herradura brand has been named as the Official Tequila for Kentucky Derby 134 in the US.

The company said yesterday (22 April) that Tequila Herradura will also join brands such as Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Early Times Mint Julep, Finlandia vodka, Korbel California Champagne and Fetzer wines at Churchill Downs' Derby-related events.

Herradura brands managing director John Hayes said: "Horses run deep in Herradura's DNA as symbolised by the horseshoe logo on our product label. Our long history and rich tradition combined with the legacy of the Kentucky Derby makes the perfect trifecta."

Casa Herradura introduced the first Reposado Tequila in 1974 and later launched the first Extra Anejo, Seleccion Suprema. In 1994, Casa Herradura launched el Jimador Tequila which, Brown Forman claims, is currently the number one selling Tequila in Mexico.
