The Dutch brewer Heineken is looking at two possible acquisitions in Russia according to the newspaper Vedomosti today.

In an interview with the president of Heineken in Russia Rolan Pirme, it reported that the brewer wants to reach a 15% market share in the country. IN currently holds just below 6%.

Pirme told the paper that Heineken was considering buying ZAO Ochakovo or OAO Krasny Vostok, which hold 6% and 5% shares of the Russian beer market respectively.

If these attempts failed Heineken could instead build its own brewery. Any such plan could begin as early as 2004 with an investment of about US$50m, he said.
