Heineken is considering increasing its stake in Guangdong Brewery Holdings, according to a report from the Asian news service Xinhua Financial Network. Earlier this year, Heineken Asia Pacific Breweries China Pte Ltd, Heineken's joint venture with Singapore's Asia Pacific Breweries (APB), acquired a 21.5% stake in Guangdong.

Comments made by APB chief executive Koh Poh Tiong at the company's shareholders meeting on Tuesday were confirmed by a Heineken spokeswoman in the report.

"If an additional stake comes available, we will consider it," the spokeswoman was quoted saying.

According to the chief financial officer of Guangdong, the brewer's sales were up by 38% year-on-year in the first five months of this year.
