UK: Heineken confirms staff cuts
Heineken said it was adding some jobs at its Edinburgh HQ
Heineken's UK unit has confirmed that 55 job losses planned for next month will go ahead.
The cuts, which will mainly come from the brewer's finance team at its service centre in Livingstone, Scotland, were first announced late last year. A Heineken spokesperson told just-drinks today (27 March) that talks over redeployment for affected staff are ongoing.
“Compulsory redundancy has only been considered when other options have been fully explored,” the spokesperson said, adding "a number of specialist finance posts" at Heineken's Edinburgh headquarters are being added.
The jobs are being moved to a shared facility in Poland for “greater efficiency”, according to Heineken.
Earlier this month, the Dutch group broke ground on a new brewery in China, its third in the country.
