US: Hansen posts record sales and income for 2005
US soft drinks group Hansen Natural Corporation has reported record earnings and sales for 2005.
Net income more than doubled to US$62.8m, while net sales leapt 93.5% to US$348.9m.
Rodney C. Sacks, chairman and chief executive officer, said the record figures were primarily attributable to substantially increased sales volumes of the company's Monster Energy drinks and, to a lesser extent, of Lost energy drinks and Joker Mad Energy drinks.
Increased sales volumes of apple juice and apple juice blends also contributed to the record sales, the company reported.
Sacks added that the increase in sales was partially offset by lower sales volumes of Hansen's Natural Sodas, Hansen's energy drinks, Energade and Smoothies in cans.
For the 2005 fourth quarter, net sales increased by 94.7% to US$98m, while operating income rose more than doubled to US$29.8m.
