Grant Burge Wines, one of the Barossa’s most famous family-owned wineries, has launched two new ranges in the UK: ‘The Vigneron’ and ‘5th Generation’.
‘The Vigneron’
This new range features a pair of wines which embody the spirit of the Barossa Valley. Made with 100% Barossa fruit, they are a reflection of what this award-winning Vigneron and world-famous Australian wine region can produce. The wines are made with structure, flavour and balance to match a range of cuisines. Available now, RRP from £12.99:
- ‘The Vigneron’ Chardonnay 2011 is a beautifully balanced wine, pale gold in colour. An elegant nose is dominated by white peach characters with hints of melon. The palate is packed with ripe fruits with peaches, nectarines and cream flavours complimented by crisp citrus acidity.
- ‘The Vigneron’ Shiraz 2010 is deep red in colour, and immediately impresses with aromas of dark plums, chocolate and all-spice which is lifted by heady notes of raspberries and musk. The palate is rich and ripe, with a fleshy mid-palate and fine tannins enhancing the richness of the blackberry and vanilla flavours. The multi-layered depth of flavours and long lingering finish give this wine an impressive debut.
‘5th Generation’
This new range pays tribute to Grant’s forefathers who laid the foundations for Grant’s success in the Barossa Valley. Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Vigneron and the history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to Lyndoch in South Australia with his wife Eliza and their two sons.
Three ‘5th Generation’ wines are now available in the UK with an RRP from £9.99:
- ‘5th Generation’ Semillon/Sauvignon Blend 2011
- ‘5th Generation’ Rosé 2011
- ‘5th Generation’ Cabernet/Merlot 2011
Established in 1998, Grant Burge Wines has grown to become one of the top 10 privately owned wine companies in Australia. The winery is based at the Moorooroo Cellars, on the banks of Jacobs Creek, in the heart of the Barossa Valley. As a fifth generation winemaker Grant is absolutely committed to the Barossa Valley. He strongly believes that fine wines are born in the vineyard.
