The Russian government is to sell off the state-owned vodka business Rosspirtprom, according to a report published in the Moscow Times.

Rosspirtprom produces as much as 40% of the country's vodka and 60% of its grain alcohol. It controls about 200 factories across Russia, producing grain alcohol, vodka and other liquors.

The announcement was made by agriculture minister Alexei Gordeyev.

Rosspirtprom did not itself comment on the sale.
