US: Gleukos acquired by M&K Acquisitions

M&K Acquisitions has secured the purchase of Gleukos, the Portland, Oregon-based 'all-natural' sport drink company.

M&K confirmed the acquisition yesterday (5 February), although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"This is an exciting day for the Gleukos brand," said Gleukos founder Mark Jensen. "The purchase of Gleukos by M&K secures for the company the ability to further sales growth via increased DSD distribution, retail chain sell in and athletic endorsements while staying true to our unique athletic history and heritage."

Gleukos expects to more than triple sales in 2009 with the addition of new distributors and retailers.

The brand is available through a number of distributors including: Columbia Distribution, Bill's Distributing, Paradise Beverage and Treasure Valley Distributing.

The company said it will execute a private placement in the next 30 days to fund additional growth.
