US: Glacier Water sales up, cuts losses H1

By | 11 August 2009

More than 1,000 newly installed water dispensers has led Glacier Water Services to report an 8% rise in sales and smaller losses for the half of 2009.

Net sales for the six months to the end of June rose by 8.4% to US$48.5m, compared to the same period of last year, Glacier said this week.

It attributed the rise to the installation of 1,100 new machines in retailers across the US and Canada, as well as a rise in average sales per machine. The group had 17,600 machines on the market by the end of the half-year.

Net losses for the six months were $1.3m, down from $3.4m last year. Operating profits nearly tripled during the period, rising to $2.8m from $967,000 in 2008.
