UK: Gales blows Fuller, Smith & Turner skyward in FY

By | 8 June 2007

Fuller, Smith & Turner has posted a healthy rise in its full-year figures.

The UK brewer and pub group, which acquired local brewer Gales in 2005, said today (8 June) that revenues in the year to the end of March were up 23% on a year earlier at GBP178.1m (US$350m). While pre-tax profits leapt to GBP42.2m from GBP15.3m, operating profit for the group rose by 31% to GBP29.4m.

The company credited the strong performance not only to the Gales acquisition, but also to property sales in the period, which brought in GBP20.1m.

"The current financial year has started well and is in line with expectations," said company chairman Anthony Fuller. "With new acquisitions, continuing investment in our estate, and the quality of our award-winning premium brands, the board is confident of the prospects for the continued success of the group."
