William Grant & Sons has a new MD for its Latin America division
William Grant & Sons has confirmed the appointment of a former Diageo executive to head its Latin America operations.
Alexandre Louro, who worked for Diageo between 1996 and 2011 in Brazil, Uruguay and Mexico, assumed the position of MD for Latin America last week. Louro will be based out of William Grant's offices in Mexico City and Bogota.
When contacted by just-drinks, a spokesperson for William Grant said that Louro replaces Philippe Brechot, who has left the company due to personal reasons, after holding the position for five years.
"With so much opportunity in Latin America, I'm delighted to have Alex on board for us to benefit from his knowledge of the market and to help drive the (company's) strategy," said William Grant's chief commercial officer, Simon Hunt.
Louro's final post at Diageo was GM of Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, before he left the group in mid-2011 to set up a consultancy business.
Earlier thiis year, William Grant's CEO, Stella David, told just-drinks that the firm was more focused on its owned brands than handling third-party offerings.
