Estonia's leading spirits company, AS Liviko, recorded profits of EEK15.2m (€969,388) for the first half of 2002, up 20% from last year, on sales up some 50% at EEK229m (€14.6m).

The growth in the first half was even stronger in volume terms with spirits volumes rising by 67% from 1.74m litres to 2.91m litres. Sales of the company's vodka brand Viru Valge, re-launched last spring, are up by 54% year-on-year, the company said.
