UK: First Drinks takes over Three Barrels distribution

By | 21 April 2006

The UK distribution of Three Barrels has shifted hands from Diageo GB to First Drinks Brands.

The French brandy company, owned by distiller William Grant & Sons, will continue to be distributed by Diageo GB until the end of June, with First Drinks Brands liaising with customers until then.

Diageo Europe sales and commercial director Steve Gannon said: "Diageo GB has held Three Barrels since 1992.  While the brand represents a small part of our global business, under Diageo's management, Three Barrels has enjoyed solid growth through our strong distribution and effective marketing."

William Grant acquired Three Barrels producer Raynal et Cie from private equity owners in France last October, and also owns First Drinks Brands in a joint-venture with Bacardi-Martini.

Raynal et Cie general manager Vincent Heavey said: "Diageo GB have done a very good job with Three Barrels for the last ten years and we know Three Barrels occupies a very special place in the hearts of its consumers. From this position of strength we now want to introduce more consumers to the brand".

Sectors: Spirits

Companies: Diageo, Bacardi
