UK: Ex -Seagram man appointed S&N CEO
Europe's leading brewer Scottish & Newcastle has appointed Tony Froggatt, 54, as chief executive to replace current incumbent Brian Stewart from 12th May 2003.
Froggatt has wide experience in the global drinks industry with Cinzano, IDV and most recently with Seagram group where he was executive president for Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Stewart will hand over executive responsibilities to Tony Froggatt, and then become non-executive Chairman from 1st July. He has been chief executive since 1991 and executive chairman since 2000. In that time he has overseen a transformation of S&N from UK focused brewer and pub operator to Europe's largest brewer, clinching deals in Greece, Finland and India among others.
Commenting on the appointment, Stewart said: "The Board of Scottish & Newcastle is delighted to appoint Tony Froggatt as chief executive. He has an excellent record in developing international drinks businesses and brands, and his appointment will add to the strength and depth of a talented management team. Scottish & Newcastle has a very exciting future and I look forward to working with Tony and the rest of the Board in the next stage of our development."
Froggatt has dual British and Australian nationality and has worked in companies such as Gillette and HJ Heinz. His drinks experience includes time spent running joint ventures. As group chief executive for Cinzano, he integrated the brand into the global IDV network. At IDV, he held executive director posts with responsibility for Asia and Europe, and at Seagram Group he was president of Europe, Middle East & Africa.

At Seagram, the European business had a very successful period under Tony Froggatt's leadership, led by excellent brand performances from leading international brands such as Chivas Regal and Absolut vodka.," S&N said today.
