US: Empire Merchants grows sales arm for NY brands
The distributor, which came about through the merger earlier this year of Peerless Importers and Charmer Industries, has implemented a new sales structure for the company drawing upon the two former frameworks.
The sales division will be implemented for Metro New York today (1 May) while the Upstate New York unit will come into effect from 1 August.
Brown-Forman Beverages chief operating officer James Bareuther said: "The new sales divisions in New York and Pennsylvania will enable us to more effectively and efficiently accomplish vital brand building activities for our entire wine and spirits portfolio in these key markets."
Empire Merchants is part of the Charmer Sunbelt Group, which is a group of affiliated, independent companies operating across the US.
Charmer Sunbelt also noted that it will provide dedicated selling support for Bacardi, Brown-Forman and Rémy Cointreau for the retail trade in the Pennsylvania market. Charmer Sunbelt's Capital Wine & Spirits is currently finalising the purchase of the Bartolomeo Pio brokerage and distributorship in Pennsylvania. Further details were not disclosed.
