CHILE: Embotelladors Andina workforce down tools

Embotelladora Andina's workers have gone on strike in protest over a new contract offer.
In a filing to the SVS yesterday (6 June), the Chile-based Coca-Cola bottler said that 25% of the company's work force have taken industrial action following a disagreement over contracts.
Andina's corporate legal manager Pedro Pellegrini said: "Andina has taken all the measures to maintain its productive and commercial activities and supply the market."
Earlier this year, Andina posted a 30% leap in net income for 2006, to $139.7m. While, in volume terms, sales registered a 6.6% rise on the year to 415.1m unit cases, sales value increased by 14.8% year-on-year to $1.02bn.
