The merger between Embotelladoras Arca and its Mexican rival, Grupo Continental (Contal), has been completed.

The deal, which was approved at the shareholders' meetings of both soft drinks bottlers last month, is now fully effective, Arca said today (1 June). The operations of both companies will be integrated under a single company to be named Arca Continental.

Shares of Arca Continental will begin trading on the Mexican Stock Exchange today under the ticker symbol 'AC'.

The merger will be carried out at an exchange ratio of 0.625 Arca shares per Contal share.
