Edrington has released a limited-edition single malt to mark its Famous Grouse brand's sponsorship of next week's Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Scottish distiller's UK distributor, Maxxium, said today (17 July) that only 1,800 bottles will be available of the Glenturret 1986 Cask Strength, laid down when Scotland last held the games, in Edinburgh. Glenturret single malt is one of the main liquids used to blend Famous Grouse, which is the official whisky of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Maxxium said The Famous Grouse is set to have a “strong presence” in Glasgow’s on- and off-trade in the run up to and during the games, with about 200 of the city’s bars signed up to receive on-trade kits.
AG Barr's soft drink brand, Irn Bru, is also an official "supporter" of the Commonwealth Games, which starts next Wednesday (23 July).
