The Edrington Group is to launch a limited edition carton for its Famous Grouse Scotch whisky brand in the run-up to Christmas.

Just over 120,000 cartons will be created and predominantly distributed in the UK, South Africa, Russia and Portugal, the company said today (1 September).

Timorous Beasties will design the carton, for which The Famous Grouse is investing around a "six figure sum".

Gerry O'Donnell, director of The Famous Grouse, said: "Both brands have similar personalities, showing equal amounts of wit and charm and we look forward to announcing further details about the design in due course."

The Black Grouse Scotch whisky, distributed by Maxxium UK, received a packaging revamp in July following its launch last year.
