The Dr Pepper Snapple Group has launched a promotion that offers US consumers a free can of Diet Dr Pepper in a bid to beat the credit crunch.

"It's clear that 2009 is going to be a year of sacrifice for our country, but we have good news for people thirsting for something to lift their spirits. We're giving away up to two million coupons for free Diet Dr Pepper to stimulate the tastebuds of America," said Allison Methvin, director of marketing for Dr Pepper.
