Distell is set to release two new wines in the UK under its Nederburg brand name.
South African wine producer Distell has teamed up with UK on-trade wholesaler Matthew Clark to roll out its Ingenuity wine brand in the country. The white variant comprises eight different varietals, including Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, while the Italian-style red blend combines Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes.
Ingenuity is also available in the Belgian and German on-trade, a spokesperson for Distell told just-drinks.
Distell has announced an exciting new listing with on-trade drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark for its Nederburg Ingenuity collection.
Nederburg Ingenuity is a range of limited-edition, unusual blends and consists one white blend and one red, mastered to work well as partners to food.
The white variant is made up of eight grapes, including Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc and is recommended with quail, duck, guinea fowl, rabbit, lamb, free-range chicken or top-grade beef. Award winning Nederburg Cellar Master, Razvan Macici describes the wine as: “A bold and exciting wine, creamy textured with a core of racy acidity and generous fruit flavours. When well chilled, the wine presents a crisp Sauvignon Blanc profile but when lightly chilled, the creamy oak vanillins come to the fore, also displaying spice and floral characteristics.”
The Italian-style red blend combines Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes and is best enjoyed with saucy tomato dishes, finely sliced rare beef, Italian cured meats or charcuterie.
Ingenuity Red is described by Razvan Macici as: “A supple and elegant mouthfeel, supported by fresh tannins and subtle oaking. This elegant and muscular wine displays ripe fruit and lingering spice flavours.”
Sarah Gandy, International Marketing Manager for Wine in the UK and Europe commented: “We are delighted to announce Nederburg Ingenuity’s new listings with Matthew Clark. The distribution deal will help us to raise the profile of the Nederburg brand in the on-trade as well as provide a launch pad for the Ingenuity collection.”
The highly acclaimed wines will join the Matthew Clark wine portfolio from June and sit alongside The Manor range by Nederburg, which is exclusive to Matthew Clark in the on-trade.
