Diageo's commercial director for Global Travel and Middle East (GTME) is to retire after 36 years with the company.

Peter Jacobson, who joined Tanqueray, Gordon & Co in 1977 before it became part of Diageo, will leave on Sunday (1 December), a spokesperson for the company told just-drinks today. He will not be directly replaced as regional teams will assume responsibility for his role, the spokesperson said.

Doug Bagley, MD of Diageo GTME, said: “Peter has made an enormous contribution to the development of Diageo's Travel Retail business and will leave behind him a significant legacy. He will be missed both in GTME and in Diageo.”

Jacobson moved to the Travel Retail unit in 1992 and was appointed commercial director of Diageo global duty free, the forerunner of Diageo GTME, in 2005.

Bagley has been heading up Diageo's GTME team since July when previous MD Roland Abella quit for personal reasons.
