Diageo has launched a travel-retail exclusive Talisker single malt Scotch whisky, which celebrates the distillery's remote northerly location on the island of Skye.

Talisker 57 Degrees North refers to the distillery's latitude and its alcoholic strength of 57% abv, the drinks giant said today (3 January). The whisky bears no age statement.

Diageo Classic Malts Selection director Nick Morgan said: "Aside from limited availability - and often expensive - cask-strength bottlings, most Talisker enthusiasts have not been able to experience a full-power Talisker. Making Talisker 57 Degrees North gave us the opportunity to offer them, for the first time, a regularly available Talisker in its untamed, natural state."

Talisker 57 Degrees North will be available in European airport shops as well as onboard North Sea and Nordic ferry routes at a recommended retail price of GBP43.99 for a 1-litre bottle.
