RUSSIA: Diageo starts Smirnoff Ice production - report

Diageo has begun producing Smirnoff Ice in Russia, according to press reports. News agency TASS said yesterday that the drinks company started making the RTD at the Bravo Premium plant in St Petersburg at the end of last month.

An official with Diageo was quoted by the news agency as saying that the company "has ambitious plans for the product," but did not specify the volume of production at the plant.

The company plans to spend over US$1 m on the promotion campaign for Smirnoff Ice, which will start in August and last until the end of the year, the official told TASS.

The official distributors of Smirnoff Ice in Russia will be Pepsi Bottling Group, Bravo Premium and Pit Distributor.
