Diageo has appointed Willie MacDougal as the new manager of its Talisker single malt whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye.

MacDougal replaces the current manager Charlie Smith, who retires later this summer after three years in the position. MacDougal spent six years working as site manager at Oban distillery before moving to Blair Athol, another Diageo-owned brand, last year.

"Talisker is one of the most successful single malts in the world, even though, or maybe because, the distillery's output is deliberately a good deal lower than some other top-selling malts," said MacDougal. "It's a distillery with massive heritage and an amazing future... It will be very exciting to be part of all that."
