Diageo has updated the packaging for its Talisker single malt Scotch whisky brand.
The company, which launched the first global advertising campaign for Talisker last year, said late last week that the update will amplify the Skye-based whisky's maritime connections. As well as a box image of the sea off the coast of Skye, maps of the island will also be more prominent.
The sea images were shot by Skye-based photographer Cailean Maclean, while the packaging update was designed by drinks brand design consultancy Claessens International. The image on the carton for Talisker 18 year old, meanwhile, was taken by Angus Bremner.
Talisker 10 year old will be the first to see the new carton in the UK before Christmas, with revised labels set to follow shortly in the New Year. Other markets will see the new cartons for Talisker 10 in the first quarter of next year, with all other expressions getting the revamp throughout 2012.
Diageo also announced last week that the 25- and 30-year-old variants of the single malt will be released at regular points, albeit in limited editions. The company did not expand on its plans for these roll-outs. Previously, the two variants had been issued at cask strength in Diageo's annual 'Special Releases' series.
