FRANCE: Danone up in year so far

By | 19 October 2005

Groupe Danone has posted a slight rise in revenue for the first nine months of this year. The French company said today (19 October) that sales for the period were up by 4.2% year-on-year to €9.853bn from €9.455bn a year earlier.

The company credited the rise to improved sales for beverages and fresh dairy products.

While issuing the figures, Danone reaffirmed its guidance for the full year. The company believes like-for-like sales growth for the year will be between 6% and 7%, while underlying earnings per share growth is predicted to reach at least 10%.

Danone hit the headlines this summer, as speculation mounted that the company was the target of a takeover bid from PepsiCo.
