FRANCE: Cuvée Louise Rosé Millennium vintage released

By | 10 July 2008

Champagne Pommery has released its first Cuvée Louise Rosé of the 21st Century.

Named in honour of Jeanne-Alexandrine Louise Pommery, who founded the House in 1858, the 2000 vintage of the Cuvée is available now in the UK.

"At first, there didn't seem to be anything outstanding about the 2000 vintage and we expected the grapes to come in at the normal quality level," said Chef de Cave Thierry Casco. "Once the harvest started it became clear that the perseverance of our growers was really going to pay off, with the fruit showing a beautiful potential."

Pale, salmon pink in colour, Cuvée Louise Rosé 2000 is a blend of 61% Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards in Avize and Cramant and 39% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and Bouzy (including the part vinified as red wine).

Cuvée Louise Rosé is available through agents Justerini & Brooks at RRP GBP140 (US$276) to GBP160.

Champagne Pommery is part of the Vranken-Pommery Monopole portfolio, which is looked after by Percy Fox and Justerini & Brooks in the UK.
