Graham Cranswick-Smith, founder and previous MD of Cranswick Premium Wines, before it was bought by Evans & Tate, has come out of what he has called a "hibernation" to set up a distribution company in the UK called Kingston Wine Agencies.

The company is a joint venture with Bill Moularadellis of Kingston Estate Wines.

Cranswick-Smith said the aim of the company is to "complement the current wines offered by the 'big 4' Australian producers and focus on regional and varietal diversity."

Kingston Wine Agencies'  initial brand line up will include Kingston Estate's own brands - Kingston Soft Press and Kingston Empiric Selection. The portfolio will also include Watershed wines from Western Australia, the Ambleside brand from South Australia and the Sirromet brand from Queensland.

"We understand that we need to work with buyers to gain traction," says Bill Moularadellis, Kingston Estate's managing director and chief winemaker, "so who better to head up Kingston Wine Agencies than a man with over 18 years' in-depth experience of Australia's wine industry and its export markets. I'm simply delighted to be working with Graham as a partner."

Kingston Wine Agencies will supply wines on an FOB basis to the multiple sector, with Australian Wineries continuing to represent Kingston to the independents.
