A High Court in India has instructed all soft drink and beverage companies to print a full list of ingredients on the packaging. The Rajasthan High Court made the ruling last Friday (8 October), after a Public Interest Litigation was filed by advocate Swati Bhati.

The Division Bench of the High Court, comprising Justice Anil Dev Singh and Justice K S Rathore, said that all soft drinks must specify the composition, nature and amount of pesticides or chemicals, if any, are in the product. The information must be clearly visible on the label or wrapper around the bottle, the court said.

The Court directed the respondent companies, including Pepsi and Coca Cola, to follow the order forthwith, Bhati said.
