UK: Consumer spending on wine overtakes beer

UK consumers are now drinking more wine than beer, according to research by market analysts ACNielsen. The study, commissioned by US wine giant E&J Gallo, said that UK consumers spent GBP4.4bn (US$8.1bn) on light wines and another GBP524m on Champagne last year.
