The head of Constellation Brands' North American wines unit has passed away.
José Fernandez, the CEO of Constellation Wines North America (CWNA), died of brain cancer on 1 January, the company said today (4 January). He was 54 years old.
Fernandez joined Constellation in 2001, moving to become CEO of CWNA in 2007.
"We are deeply saddened by José's death," said Constellation's president and CEO, Rob Sands. "José was an enthusiastic leader and an innovator whose vision played a significant role in the growth and direction of the company.
"We extend our sincerest sympathies to the Fernandez family, particularly his wife and children. He will be missed by everyone across our entire organisation."
Last month, Jay Wright assumed the leadership position at CWNA, as Fernandez began a leave of absence due to personal medical reasons.
