Constellation Europe has launched a voluntary product recall for two of its Stowells wine brands in the UK.

The company said today (2 December) that there is "a very low risk" of spontaneous breakage of bottles of Stowells Italian sparkling white and rosé wines available in the country.

"We are working with retailers and the wholesalers who have received this stock to remove the products from sale and we are informing consumers that might have purchased an affected product so that they can return it for a full refund," the company said.

"We have contacted, and will maintain contact, with all regulatory and other bodies that have an appropriate interest."

The two Italian wines were added to the brand's portfolio at the same time as the company revamped its Stowells stable in April last year. The Stowells range includes wines from Chile, Italy, France, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Argentina and the US.
