RUSSIA: Constellation Brands enters Russia
Constellation Brands has said it is eyeing expansion on Russia's wine market, with the opening a susbidiary group in the country.
Constellation Europe confirmed to just-drinks today (16 September) that it is setting up a subsidiary in the country.
Further details of the move are set to be released shortly, said a spokesperson for the group, which owns brands such as Robert Mondavi and Hardys.
Russia's wine market remains at the early stages of development, but grew at an average 20.6% per year between 2001 and 2006, according to figures from market research group Datamonitor.
Constellation's branded wine sales in Europe fell 6% on an organic basis in its first quarter ended 31 May.
