Black Box Wines Introduces California Pinot Noir To Portfolio

SAN FRANCISCO, May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire

Black Box Wines (www.blackboxwines.com), the leader in the premium 3L box wine category, welcomes the newest varietal to its wine portfolio, its 2013 California Pinot Noir. A lighter-bodied red that's perfect for any occasion, this new offering continues the Black Box philosophy of bringing consumers high-quality, award-winning wines at affordable prices. Based on current depletion growth rates, the Black Box Pinot Noir addition will catapult the brand to exceed the four million case milestone in 2014, the largest national footprint in the 3L Premium Box wine category[1]. The Pinot Noir is available nationwide with a suggested retail price of $24.99.

"We are very excited to finally add this varietal to our Black Box lineup," said Black Box Wines Director of Marketing, Kim Moore. "Pinot Noir is growing in demand, becoming the third largest red varietal in table wine and growing at a double-digit rate[2]. It's been our mission to satisfy our consumers' palates and this fruit-expressive offering will add greater diversity to the Black Box portfolio."

Easy to drink and very food-friendly, Black Box Wines are high-quality and a great value at 40% less than comparable bottled wines. The new California Pinot Noir is no exception, offering enticing aromas of lush strawberry, Bing cherry, and a hint of rose petal with notes of toasty oak on the palate. The Black Box Pinot Noir is an ideal summer wine and pairs well with grilled salmon or herb-roasted chicken.

Vintage dated and appellated from premier growing regions around the world, Black Box Wines have been awarded 46 Gold Medals and 27 "Best Buys" from Wine Enthusiast magazine. Each box is the equivalent of four 750mL bottles and stays fresh for four weeks after opening, allowing wine drinkers to enjoy a glass of their favorite varietal without worrying about waste.

Black Box currently offers 10 varietals in 3L box format, including top sellers Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Shiraz, along with Pinot Noir, Red Elegance blend, Pinot Grigio and Riesling[3].  Five varietals are also available in a 500mL Tetra Pak® Containers: Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
