Coca-Cola will launch strawberry-flavoured soda Fanta Fresa in Canary Islands, Spain, where it says consumers have shown thirst for the variety, a brand manager told just-drinks today (3 October).

Coke will distribute Fanta Fresa in 2-litre, 1.5-litre, 33cl and PET500ml bottles across the islands, which are popular holiday resorts.

The company will continue to distribute its best-selling Fanta Naranja (orange), as well as Fanta Limon sodas in Canary Islands and Spain, said the brand manager. She added that Fanta Fresa will be introduced in Canary Islands only.

The brand manager could not say whether a similar drink would be introduced in Latin America, where Coke used to sell strawberry-flavoured Kolita Roja in Venezuela, Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

Coke will launch a marketing campaign for Fanta Fresa that will include below-the-line supermarket promotions.

Currently, Fanta is sold in 188 countries in more than 100 flavours.  Fanta Naranja accounts for 75% of sales.
