The Coca-Cola Co has joined forces with global campaign group Greenpeace to agree on a climate protection initiative in the US.

The Coca-Cola Company will announce a new commitment to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions tomorrow (3 December).

Greenpeace said today that it supports the move as a "positive example of business investment in low-carbon growth".
An announcement will be made at 11am Eastern Time tomorrow by Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Co, Phil Radford, executive director of Greenpeace USA and Gerd Leipold, former executive director of Greenpeace International.

The soft drinks giant told analysts last month that it aims to be "the global leader in sustainable water use and [achieve] industry leadership in packaging, energy and climate protection".
