UK: CL reshuffles Burn Stewart management
The owner of Burn Stewart Distillers has reshuffled the management team at the Scotch whisky group.
Caribbean conglomerate CL Financial, owner of UK-based drinks group CL World Brands, has appointed Fraser Thornton to the position of managing director at Burn Stewart following "a review of the strategic direction" of the company.
Burn Stewart is the Scotch arm of CL World Brands, which also has interests in vodka, rum and Cognac.
Thornton, who joined Burn Stewart in 1996, has moved up from his previous role as marketing director. He will focus on developing the company's premium Scotch brands, including single malt whisky Bunnahabhain.
Thornton said: "With all the building blocks now in place the company and our brands are well placed to achieve substantial growth in the years ahead."
Former Burn Stewart managing director Steve Campbell will stay with the company to head up its operations in Asia, which are headquartered in Taiwan.
