Pernod Ricard's Chivas Regal brand is to be the official Scotch whisky of the Cannes International Film Festival.

Chivas Regal 25-year-old will spearhead the sponsorship, said Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky and premium gin division of Pernod Ricard, today (7 May).

Print adverts for Chivas 25YO will be launched in "key markets" outside of France, featuring the official partnership logo for the Cannes festival, which takes place in May and is now in its 62nd year.

A publicity campaign is also set to take place at the festival, where there will be a private Chivas Bar.

Sophie Gallois, global brand director for Chivas Regal, said: "We are delighted with this highly prestigious initiative as we feel it is an extremely complementary fit for the brand underlining Chivas Regal's iconic status."

Financial details of the Cannes partnership deal have not been disclosed.
