Chivas Brothers has embarked on a global launch of a series of Christmas gift ideas for its flagship Scotch whisky brands.

The Scotch whisky and gin arm of Pernod Ricard is aiming to add value to three brands, The Glenlivet, Chivas Regal and Ballantine's, over the festive period.

The Glenlivet single malt will be sold in a suede and soft leather case in 20 markets, while Chivas Regal 12-year-old will be sold in an embossed metal gift tin. The embossed effect will also be used with Ballantine's Finest, which will be sold in a hip flask.

Chivas Brothers' marketing director Martin Riley said: "We are certain that the premium look and feel of our seasonal packaging will guarantee on-shelf stand out during this key sales period around the world. The luxurious feel of the packaging will encourage customers to purchase and consequently contribute to the growth of these dynamic brands."

For Chivas, these launches over the festive period includes not just Christmas but, significantly, the Chinese New Year. Chivas has been very active in building its presence in Chinese Asia in recent years and its Chivas Regal brand has become the best-selling imported spirit in China's booming market.
